Veteran actor Nalin Pradeep Udawela passed away at around 5.45 am today (23). He was 56 years old at the time of his death and was receiving treatment at the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama. He was a great artist who displayed his talent in all three fields of the Sri Lankan art scene - stage, cinema and the small screen - and was loved by his fans.

His memorable performances were seen in many stage plays such as 'Juriya', 'Kelani Palama', 'Modara Mol' and 'Mee Harak Suddek Oba Amathai'. Nalin Pradeep Udawela has also contributed to a number of teledramas including 'Akuru Maki Ne', 'Aparna', 'Batti', 'Eth Kanda Lihini', 'Isuru Paura', 'Kasi Salu', 'Monarawila', 'Nisalavila', 'Sudu Haamine' and 'Suvanda Padma'. Udawela, who was highly appreciated in his artistic career, was awarded for his talent in the works 'Nisala Wila', 'Tharaka Mal' and 'Aasay Man Piyambanna'. Nalin, a father of two, was involved in politics and previously served as a Provincial Councilor. He was also currently the Colombo District SJB Organizer.
